6 Gift Ideas for Nature Lovers

Sometimes at Christmas we can get carried away and load each other up with gifts that can be counter-productive to our ‘nature-loving’ personas.

Well maybe it's time to start thinking a little differently this Christmas and start thinking a little more nurturing towards the environment and less focused on ‘stuff’. So here’s my list of 6 gift ideas for the nature lovers amongst you….…

1. Give the Gift of TIME

Years ago my daughter (aged 8) gave her Dad a precious gift of ‘8 minutes back scratching’ to be taken at his whim. My partner still cherishes this little piece of paper and he has it pinned up in his wardrobe along with artwork of the children.

Think about if you friend enjoys hiking or waterfall hunting and book in a date/opportunity to do a walk or dip together. If you're based in the beautiful tropics of FNQ then see my list of hikes and waterfalls of Tropical North Queensland.

Or perhaps book a coffee date at a special place nearby. Two of my fave local spots in Cairns are the newly opened ‘The Palms’ in Aeroglen or Limberlost in Freshwater - you’ll find some great homewares and plants on offer too.

2. Give the Gift of LIFE

A plant is a wonderful wayto show that you care. My son once gave his teacher a Daintree Pine competewith baubles and tinsel on it to celebrate Xmas. Once again, if you’re based inCairns, Limberlost and The Palms (or a nursery of your choice) is a great spotto purchase these living gifts.

3. Give the Gift of an EXPERIENCE

Think about it. When you reflect on life does your mind latch onto all the things you possess or does it consider all the things you’ve done?? Tropical North Queensland is full of FUN activities for the Nature Lovers amongst you and a great way to gift someone is to buy a voucher/trip out on any number of tours that are on offer here.

4. Give the Gift of KNOWLEDGE

A book often tells stories that lie in peoples minds infinitely. A great way to show you care is by giving a personalised book (one that you have loved yourself) with a caption from you inside. Or even better a kindle that will keep on giving.

Or maybe an MP3 player with a playlist compiled by you or a selection of Audio Books or Podcasts loaded on it.

5. Give the Gift of MOTIVATION

For exercise lovers a gift voucher for a session at the local gym could be popular. My partner has gifted me sessions at Tobruk pool and at a boxing gym – all constituted for fun and were especially appreciated after all the eating and celebrating that Xmas brings when the New Year rolls around.

6. Give the Gift of PLANET-FRIENDLY PRODUCTS

Don’t forget that recycledand planet-friendly products is always a bonus if you ARE going to go down theline of buying ‘stuff’.

Here are a few of myrecommendations….

What are your gift ideas for Christmas like? Are they nature loving? What other gift ideas for nature lovers can you suggest??
